About Ialong Park
Ialong Park is an eco-park on the edge of Jowai in West Jaintia Hills, about 7 to 8 km from the town centre. Meghalaya Tourism describes it as a park of about 12.8 hectares known for its sacred grove and a viewpoint over the Pynthorwah valley, through which the Myntdu river flows past terraced paddy fields. The Myntdu is the river most closely tied to Jowai and the Jaintia (Pnar) people, and the view from Ialong is one of the easiest ways to see it from above. The park has been developed by the district administration with paved paths, gazebos, benches, toilets and changing rooms, and a water park section has been under development. Ialong is also known locally for archery, with competitions held for locals and visitors, and as the home of the 'noh sakyriet' dance. It is a short, relaxed stop that fits easily into a day around Jowai along with Thadlaskein Lake and the Nartiang monoliths.

Visitor Information
Best Time to Visit
October to April
Post-monsoon (October to November) is the best time: the valley is green, the paddy fields are ripening and the skies are clearer. Winter (December to February) is cool and dry with good visibility. Spring (March to May) is pleasant though hazier. In the monsoon (June to September) the valley is lush, but mist often blocks the view and river treks are not run. Late afternoon is popular for the sunset over the valley.
